I probably will remember this drive for the rest of my life... I-70 was about as slow and snowy as it can be. Maddie cried for probably 3 of the 4 hours it took us to get to Breckenridge. Lucky for us it was all worth it!

We got to spend a lot of great time with Pa Jack and Grandma Sherry! It was wonderful to enjoy the snow since Denver was dry as a bone. :) It definitely made for great Christmas Shots! Maddie's 1st shot at sledding didn't last long, but we think she enjoyed her cruise down the street and back.

18 Months - A Letter to Madeline

Madeline... I can't believe a year and a half has passed so quickly. It feels like only yesterday you were a tiny baby lying in your bassinet happily swaddled. I am amazed at how much you have grown and how much you are learning, as I sit here and write this I am also watching you jump on the couch!

As your Daddy and I watch you grow it is evident how independent you are! Not only do you have a sweet and caring demeanor you are fiercely strong willed!

Here are some facts about you at 18 months!

You wear a size 5 shoe and are almost growing out of that. Your feet are really BIG for your age!
You love books, 10 little lady bugs is your favorite one at the moment.
You prefer your water REALLY cold and with ice. Just like momma.
You are left handed.
You have 16 teeth.
You feed yourself and hardly drop any on your bib!
You LOVE and I repeat LOVE macaroni and cheese!

Maddie's 1st Field Trip

We had the opportunity to tag along with Auntie Geri's preschool class for a harvest field trip at Miller Farms near Longmont. We got to pick potatoes, onions, carrots, and pumpkins.

It's so funny to see Maddie interact with the bigger kids in the way that she does. I really don't think she realizes that she isn't just as big as they are. It was such a great time, I hope that we can make it a tradition!

16 Months!

According to several things I've read the "toddler" stage begins at 16 months. I think Maddie has been in toddler stage for awhile now. She really keeps me on my toes. A few weeks back she started attempting the stairs. She has now begun going down the stairs in several different fashions: sliding on her toosh, climbing backwards, or she tries to walk down them like she is really big enough to do it! This scares me to no end. So we spend a lot of time on the stairs practicing these days.

I have had to rearrange just about everything in our house because of it.

I like to take her to the park across the street, but I don't like taking her away from the park. Maddie would spend the entire day outside if she could, so when I try to make her leave she throws her new full blown toddler fit. It makes me laugh to see how her personality really is changing, she is so incredibly strong willed!

15 months... and Cathing Up!

Wow... time has been flying by as it usually does. We have spent the last few weeks getting our life and time back under control. Things are starting to even out a bit and we don't seem to be quite as hectic. We have made sure that we sit down as a family and eat dinner every night. It has become my favorite time of the day, when I can be with my husband and my daughter.

Lately, my health has really been affecting me, but I am convinced I can get it under control...I am also so extremely thankful that my family has been there for me, I don't know where I would be with out them!

Madeline has been so much fun running around everywhere. She has my cordination (or lack of) so she has been getting bumped and bruised while playing with some of the bigger kids. Yet, we are told that she holds her own (also like her momma).

Spent a wonderful 4th of July with Pa Jack and Grandma Sherry AND Papa and Nene! Wow.. it was grandparents galore for Maddie! We spent the day at Garden of the Gods and Manitou Springs. We strolled, shopped, played at the arcade, and ate ice cream! Maddie is such a busy girl!

Wow. How fast time flies. The last few weeks have been crazy busy. We have had a lot of great company, Brian started his new job, and Madeline started daycare!

While adjusting to our new reality I have not had a lot of time to update the blog. Madeline has taken to her "school" really well and she seems to like her teachers and her new friends. Since Madeline's school starts at 12 Months she is the youngest kid in the whole place! Lucky for her! Grandma Nene also watches Maddie 2-3 days a week so she still get to hangout with Maggie and Winston during the day.

Anyhow, I do take a lot of pictures.. here a few good ones from the past few weeks.

Madeline's first birthday cupcake party was a fantastic success!
Here is the cupcake tower that I constructed. I'm pretty darn proud of my handy work on this! I know Brian thought I was crazy when I sent him to the hardware store for PVC pipe. Bet he didn't know that PVC pipe could look so good!

She was a little shocked when we first put the cake infront of her, but once she got the gist she dug right in!

Last night Grandpa Paul and Grandma Anita came over for dinner to feast upon the wonderful Morel mushrooms Grandma Christy sent out. Afterwards, Madeline showed off her new walking skills.

She took her first undocumented steps at the beginning of April, and each day since has gotten a little braver. Unfortunetly, each time we tried to catch her on camera, she would get shy and revert to crawling. Until now!

Lasagna face! Maddie loved her 10 month birthday dinner, the submersion blender really has been fun for us. Maddie gets to eat just about everything that we do as long as it is blended well.

We had a great Valentine's Day at the Lake. I got a beautiful necklace from Brian and we had a great dinner that Grandpa Jack made! Maddie really likes Shrimp Etouffe! I didn't get as many pictures as I wanted because the camera I took kept messing up. Oh well, more pictures next time!

It was a big day to celebrate for Madeline. Not only did she hit the big 0-9 but she also got to try bananas. REAL bananas not the mushed up baby food kind! She really liked it. Though it worked out better if I put the pieces in her mouth so she could chomp on them. Otherwise, she just pulverized them in her little palm!

I'm really glad that I stopped being such a worry-wort and decided to let her try big girl foods. I know it has been long overdue since she has been trying to bite her spoon for the past few weeks. Leave it to me to worry about stuff like that!

I feel like I have not been taking enough photos. Every minute is so special to me and I wish I was pulling out the camera more! Though when I do get pics.. I seem to be really catching her personality. It is so funny to us that we have a little person running around (well crawling really fast) who is saying mama and baba!

Maddie's personality is so cute. It's funny to see her change moods and modes. Sometimes she prefers Brian because he defintely makes her laugh and smile more, but sometimes she likes to just snuggle with mama and hangout.

This photo really makes me smile.. she was crawling around in her mixed-matched outfit (ala Daddy) and screaming at the top of her little lungs.

This past week (I'm late on posting) Maddi has begun to wave hello. Why hello? Well I think that is because we always say "hello" when we wave to her. I wonder why that is? Maybe we will start saying "bye bye" and see if we get the same result.

7 Months!

A few days late...

Maddie no longer has the bumper or mobile in her crib. It makes for a pretty plain room, however, it is a lot safer. Maddie being the explorer that she is was trying to haul herself over the side of crib using the bumper as leverage. She was also grabbing the ladybugs on the mobile even though we lowered the mattress. Crazy as it sounds but she was up on her knees grabbing for those things. It really blows my mind that babies are that smart!

Madeline was Baptised today. It was a very special day for us; 15 months ago we were married in the same church.

I was very surprised that she didn't cry, rather she was very happy and talked and laughed the whole time. She never really ceases to amaze me!

During the service, it looks like she is praying in this pic! Mama has a new thing for headbands, Maddie doesn't pull them off so I am guessing that she likes them too!

Maddie Has Places to Go!

WOW! We thought that we would have more time before we had a full blown crawler on our hands! Maddie surprised us and figured out her hand and knee coordination and has taken off! She has been crawling all over the place, she surprised us with her sweet crawling skills for the first time on Grandma Anita's birthday! Of course she has been getting herself into even more funny (and sometimes scary) situations.

Unfortunately, Madeline no longer has a use for her Bumbo. I hoped she would use it longer (since she still is not sitting up on her own) but right after I snapped this shot she was reaching for a toy on the ground and bonked her poor little noggin! I felt awful.. so that is going into storage!

... and suddenly every thing is all right. We have always had a battle keeping shoes on dear Maddie. She is a shoeless (and sockless) girl just like her Mama. I got these super cute shoes for a shower gift and now she is big enough for them! With the right socks Maddie can rock out in her pink sneaks! She now jumps higher in the jumperoo and is able to get more leverage when she is working on practicing her crawling!

Mama got her hair done! Thank goodness! It has been a long time and she really needed it!

It has been a weekend full of firsts for Maddie. She got to try Apple Juice and attempt to eat Puffs. She didn't really seem to notice that she was drinking anything different when she got her first sip of the sweet stuff.

Maddie is most definitely a mover and a shaker. She can scoot herself into some pretty funny situations. Here she is stuck under the couch!

We had a wonderful week filled with snow and lots of soup! Lol It's cold outside and I like to make soup when it snows. We had about 2 feet at our house and it was wonderful being snowed in with the family!

Madeline loves the fall weather just like mommy and daddy. We took her to her first pumpkin festival this weekend. Maddie got to decorate her first pumpkin, plant a flower, and go through a haunted house! Scary!

wow... I watch a lot of Nick Jr. with Madeline on the weekend. If you watch it too you will understand the title. Lol. Moose A. Moose rocks!

Anyhow.. Daddy is hunting so Maddie and I spent the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa. They are staying with us for the next week so I don't go crazy with out Brian!

Maddie likes to help Daddy when he is recording music. We have a feeling she will be a musical child just like Mama was! In other news, our little Maddie is also now a continuous roller. She only usually will do it when we are in the other room. We do have video and once I figure out how to post I will!

Madeline is 5 Months! My oh my does time fly by! She just figured out this week that she has a high pitched scream. We think she is trying to mimic Mariah Carey.

We really need to lower the crib mattress! Look at how tall she is!

Wow! Have we been busy lately or what!?

Over the last few weeks we celebrated my 29th birthday, flew to Kansas City, had an emergancy room trip, and celebrated Brian's 30th birthday, twice!

Now our entire house is sick. What a way to end our rally!

Grandma Christy was in town again for the weekend! Mommy & Daddy were able to go to a concert and Maddie got to spend quality time with Grandma!

Well being back at work has definitely made our lives much more interesting! Maybe that is the wrong word for it though. Let's just say we are really busy!

She has been extremely "drooly" and quite grumpy so we are starting to think that there may be a tooth or two about to emerge!

Madeline loves hanging out on her playmat and is constantly kicking her feet and batting at the toys. She also now turns on her side and grabs her feet! She now also giggles and carries on little conversations! (In baby-talk of course!)

So.. I have been busy over the past few weeks, I started work and have not really been in the blogging mood when I get home. However, I decided to post some pictures that I snapped that I never posted.

These were snapped when Madeline was 12 weeks, I really wanted professional tutu shots, Brian was not sure. So Madeline and I had fun on a sunny afternoon and she got to play dress-up.

Madeline is getting so big so fast. I can't even believe that I am going back to work tomorrow. I'm very sad to not be with Maddie all day, but very thankful she will at least be with Daddy.

Madeline along with Mommy & Daddy had a busy weekend. Renee and Keaton flew in from Des Moines to visit us and we were all over town!

We managed to get to Buffalo Bill's grave, Evergreen Lake, White Fence Farms, & the Aquarium in one weekend!

We had a lot of fun and Madeline loved meeting our friends from Iowa!

Maddie turns 11 weeks old today. She has been such an incredible and different baby over the last few weeks, her moods have changed and she is sooooooo happy most of the time!

She found her thumb last week and though we are trying to discourage her from being a thumb sucker she seems determined to ditch the pacifier and chomp on her hand. She also is incredibly vocal since we got back from Missouri, I suppose she just has a lot to say!

Yes, we already let Maddie watch TV but only the educational stuff. I don't know if she really is paying attention or just attracted to the bright colors, but she seems to like it.

We have been at the Lake of the Ozarks with Grandpa Jack & Grandma Sherry for the past few days. Madeline loves the Lake and mommy and daddy are really appreciating the rest and relaxation! There has been a lot of fun on the water and a lot of good food on vacation, we don't want it to end! Madeline has already been on her first boat ride! Thank you Grandma Patty & John!

Celebrating 2 Months in Kansas City!

We arrived in Kansas City yesterday just in time for Madeline's 2 Month Birthday!

We are so excited that everyone else is getting the chance to hangout with our little angel! Madeline was perfect on our trip here. Lucky for us she slept for most of the drive!

Madeline also had her 2 month vacinations on Monday of the week. I think it was more traumatic for me then it was for her.

8 Wonderful Weeks

I know I say this a lot.. but I can not believe how fast time is going by! Madeline is 8 weeks old today and changing by the minute. Everyday it seems like she is making a new sound or a making a new face. She is so long that she is about to grow out of her 0-3 clothes! I also feel like she is going to be too long for her bassinet soon, the thought makes me sad.

This week Madeline has really started to smile at us! The only problem is that we have been unable to get a good pic of her gummy little grin!

Madeline thinks she is a big girl. She prefers to sit up in our arms so we decided to whip out the Bumbo last night. She IS such a big girl! She absoultely loved the Bumbo, I didn't think we would be using this thing for weeks!

Madeline also really enjoys her bathtime now, she is immediately calms down the minute that we put her in the warm water. I wonder if it has anything to do with the calming baby wash that we use!

Grandma Christy came to visit Madeline this weekend! It was wonderful to visit with her and Mommy & Daddy even got to go to movie by themselves! It was the first time we had both been away from Maddie, and though it was very hard it was really nice to decompress and relax and the same time!

We only wish that Grandma could have stayed longer; but we will embark on Maddie's first roadtrip to Missouri in 3 weeks!

We have been attempting to give Madeline "Tummy Time" since we brought her home because she was born with such strong neck muscles! She has never really enjoyed laying on her tummy, but today she seemed to enjoy it! She can hold her neck up for quite a long time! Yea!

Yesterday was Madeline's 1 month Birthday! (Brian told me I was rushing the 4 week Photos, so I took new ones with the Teddy Bear)

I can't believe time has passed so fast! I packed away her Newborn clothes this morning and it really made me sad! When people told me not to blink because they grow fast I never realized that it was THIS fast!
